Tiny Apron

Hi,
I have been working on Tiny Aprons, this one is 5 inches by 13 inches. (Doll size) Since I'm not a pattern person, no one will ever see the first one. This half apron was fun though.
A lot of people told me which rooster they liked the best. We have ONE more WEEK to see the roosters, so click into the badge on the right and take a look. They were all interesting and fun. I enjoyed 'roostering' and I thank Barb and Bella Vista for a Great Rooster Party. Her roosters are beautiful, she has a great collection. After the week, I will let you know which rooster of mine received the most comments.
Blessings,
Janet

Guild Badge

Hi,
Completed another girlfriend project (cannot show you yet) and the Badge. I used the pink with green polka dots fabric on the back of it. After all - All the other quilters have badges, so I took the class and YAY! I have one too. I am not happy with the way the name looks, so I went over it with pink. . . better, but thinking I will do something else with that. At least it can now be read by everyone, maybe.
The storms are making it almost impossible to pick up the reserved book at the library. I did finish The Lost Quilter by Jennifer Chiaverini and highly recommend it.
Blessings,
Janet

Stash Sale

Hi,
Saturday at the Quilt Guild meeting, we had a stash sale and I reaped some of the benefits. It was a fun time. I also attended a Badge making class. As soon as I put the finishing touches on it, I will post it. The guild will be having our 25th anniversary in 2010 and will are busy planning the party. This year the recognition dinner will be on my birthday. What a great way to celebrate a birthday and with so many friends. I will also be taking a class from Floozie's - mom
Blessings,
Janet

Crochet Motif - new book

Hi,
I've been busy with a few projects. The new one that I can reveal is from the book Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman. This one (#8) turned out too big to be an applique, but I could use it as a doily or as a rug for the dollhouse I have my eye on. My very old metal dollhouse is too fragile to use.
I found a book at the library All About Doll Repair and Care by Carol Lindberg that will allow me to fix my baby's eyes. She was featured in an earlier blog. Her poor eyes are clouded (like cataracts). I thought the glass eyes had shattered and that's what the book shows happened. It tells me how to repair them so she can see again. YAY! Back to my other projects (cannot reveal them until the birthday package to my girlfriend has been sent and received).
Blessings,
Janet

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBRA

Hi,
Today is the birthday of my first baby. One of the photo's is of her and her younger sister when they were young children that is slowly fading away. The other is a picture of her before marriage. Today she is the mother of 5 children, Christopher, Kayla, Meaghan, Stephanie and Amanda Jane from high school to 4th grade. I am proud of her and her husband Tom. They are a beautiful family. Both pictures are of her younger self.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBRA

Blessings, Janet

Thread Painting Class

Hi,
We had a thread painting class at Laura's Sewing and Vac with Kathy Ward. She does fabulous works of art quilts. Forgot the camera. There are two classes, one was this afternoon and the other is this evening. Kathy is the spokesperson for Superior Threads. I was amazed at the threads and how my machine reacted to them (they are superior). They have a Bottom Thread (Kathy had us use Sage Green) that can be used in the bobbin with any other thread or color we are using and it won't show through. AMAZING! We do have to use a special needle (it has a larger eye). We are wanting her to come back and teach us Texture Magic.
She gave us an applique flower which we applied to our fabric then, using King Tut #932 varigated (1 inch instead of the usual 4 inch varigation) thread, I zig-zagged, free motion the design. I'm in love - the thread colors and variety of offerings can be used for so many projects.
Blessings,
Janet

Two New Projects completed

Hi,
Every Tuesday night is Bee (quilting bee - not all of us quilt). The friendships, the quality of help and discussions are incredible. One of the gals on vacation in the Pacific Northwest has kept us up to date on what she is doing. We all enjoy hearing from her. She and her husband attended the Sisters (OR) quilt show a couple of weeks ago.
I finished two of my many projects.
Blessings,
Janet
