The Art of the Doll - updated

The past 2 weeks I have Crocheted 3 dolls. Each one is different. It is my own pattern and it is an experiment.  I had one gal want a crocheted doll for her birthday.  I have a couple of people in the nursing homes and I wanted to give a gift that would be a friend, an angel, a companion. These are not children's dolls, they are for those who need someone to talk to and to live at those times that we need that moment and no one else is around.

I have 3 more ready to be put together and will put those up as soon as they are completed. I am still experimenting.  I have one more thought. . .a pups.

I love to crochet and to come up with different ideas.  I also knitted my own patterns. .  my yellow cottage and an owl in yellow yarn.

As promised all 6 dolls. . .ready for a Friend.
Thank you so much for allowing all of us artists a place to show our works Eva and Kristin at Paint Party Friday.
Blessings,
Janet

Happy Valentine Cat

Celebrating early. . .Every day should be Valentines day with a beloved.  ACEO card Prismacolor pens and pencils.

My poor car has been in the body shop.  During WILMA (on my birthday) it was the hurricane that took everybody's windshields out  tree trunks though them (2005). . .therefore it is not the original windshield. It leaked. The shop said I got it in time, no major damage (rusted) so they are able to repair it. Whew!  Bit the bullet on that one. But they are waiting on the glass company to come put the windshield back in (they had popped it out to be worked on) so I can have the car after they paint around it.  This is the 3rd day without the car.  Today is another stormy/windy day with falling temps. My errands went begging this week.

Thank you Kristin and Eva for a wonderful playground for all of us artists to show and tell. Be sure to visit all the artists at Paint Party Friday.  They are informative, fun and teach amazing products I never knew existed. Their videos teach so many things.

Blessings,
Janet

Baby Birds Learning to Fly

ATC card Prismacolor pencils and ink. Baby birds are flying from home to tree. . .sort of!

We have had 2 days every week of Tornadoes and flooding for the past 3 weeks. Totally  unusual for So. FL. I've lived here almost 30 years and Tornadoes have been many but never the destructive kind we had in IL.  It is totally unusual for the hottest year on record (last year) and the horrendous weather we are now having. It's like the world turned upside down and we are all flying against the wind. . . like my little bird.

Thank you Kristin and Eva for the wonderful Artists place you give us to show our works and to learn from each other.  Be sure and give a look at all the wonderful artists at Paint Party Friday.
I had no idea Thursday was Squirrel Day.  I would have posted my drawing.

Blessings,
Janet

ATC ART CARD Collage

I completed my collage ATC. This is something that is totally different for me. I used wallpaper, magazine cut outs, and stamping. It was a fun project.

Storms keep coming around. 'They' say it is the El Nino effect. It sure feels like I'm back in the Midwest and that was one of the reasons I left it.   So. FL never has that type of storm. . . at least not to this extent.

Thank you Paint Party Friday for a place artists can go to see other work, learn other techniques and new art products.
Blessings,
Janet

My Doll

Thinking ahead to Sweet Heart day.  We have 60s again today, YAY, but horrendous thunderstorms are predicted. El Nino won't stop hounding us. We even have our FIRST hurricane of the year (no it's not touching the US). It is a 'history book' feature.

She is totally pencil, acrylics and sparkles.

Happy Paint Party Friday and be sure not to miss all the wonderful artists listed there.

Blessings,
Janet

First Watercolor

I've been watching the ART shows on CREATE TV a PBS station. Jerry Yarnell and Frank Clarke have been teaching watercolor. I also took a class at Jerry's Artarama. I decided to paint an ocean scene with sunrise. This is an ACEO on watercolor board. This is my First ever attempt at an actual watercolor painting.

I've been missing lately because this summer the community cut ALL trees down.  All we have now are either very tall Palm trees or tiny starter Palms (to replace the trees).  My back room (work room for all my crafts from sewing to scrapbooking to painting) is too hot even with the blinds closed. It is impossible to work now.  I am looking for another place to live. It has been 80s, 90s, 100s (summer), even into December.  I need not only the blinds to be open so I can look outside, but a cooler environment to work in.  I have a small condo so it is impossible to move the workroom anywhere else in the house.

So many diverse artists on Paint Party Friday. . .be sure to visit them all.

I hope everyone had great holidays.
Blessings,
Janet
