My owl sketch and color pencil is partially unfinished. I was trying to shape all the feathers individually. The face feathers, wing feathers and the breast feathers are all totally different. The eyes in the picture were different, but not as different as my picture shows.
I find that when I draw/sketch/paint that the whole picture shows up differently on the computer than what I see while sketching. I can see the details better and how it could be changed, shaded or highlighted. What in the world did I do before computers!! I do like that I am better able to see a more exacting picture through the use of the computer.
Join the whole group and see all the other artists at Paint Party Friday.
Blessings,
Janet
Hello Janet, oh I do love owls they are so captivating and just beautiful creatures! Your sketch is great, he's so fluffy and you've done a great job of the eyes, deep set in all those feathers, wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love your owl sketch Janet, the feathering and eyes are beautifully done. HPPF!
ReplyDeletenice paint ! I am happy to meet you through PPF !!
ReplyDeleteHi Janet. I love your owl and it is coming along just great! I love his eyes. Thanks. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThat's not so weird, we all do, when you focus on the picture, does not look beyond the details, you need to see at a distance "THE ALL" need perspective, which in his case, the computer gives. Saludos
ReplyDeleteLoving you owl Janet.....
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF, Annette x

I love owl and funny enough I also sketched one this week which I'll put on my blog sometime soon. I know exactly what you mean - it's so much easier to see mistakes or things you want to change when you look at your drawing/painting on the computer screen than if you look directly at it - i'm not sure why that it but it is helpful!!
ReplyDeleteLovely work on the owl!
ReplyDeletecomputers are such a great tool for drawing and painting aren't they... and digital cameras ... I would be lost without my camera... love your owl sketch... just lovely and I am thinking I may need to head out and get one of those drinks thingies now you mentioned sun tea... I hadn't thought of that...xx

ReplyDeleteI thought it was just me! When I scan something into the computer it seems to give me "fresh" eyes. I like your owl!

ReplyDeleteWonderful!!!
Janet, you are in your "birds period" of art, I see. Wonderful own with such nice feathers. It is strange how the computer image varies from what we have done.
ReplyDeleteAll those details in the feathers!
ReplyDeleteI agree that art looks different on a screen!
ReplyDeleteYou are so methodical doing all the feathers individually, I think that is the best way.
He is a very fine specimen and cleverly drawn. Are you planning to paint him next:)
xxx
I know what you mean! That happens to me too, that the image looks different on the computer. Your owl looks mysterious and cute
ReplyDeleteLove your Owl's quizzical look, how you have the patience for all those feathers I just don't know :))
ReplyDeleteThanks you for visiting my snowdrop post and leaving your lovely comment.
That's the perfect sketch of an owl and how they sometimes look a bit "weird" turning their heads and closing eyes.
