Owl Sketch

My owl sketch and color pencil is partially unfinished. I was trying to shape all the feathers individually.  The face feathers, wing feathers and the breast feathers are all totally different. The eyes in the picture were different, but not as different as my picture shows.

I find that when I draw/sketch/paint that the whole picture shows up differently on the computer than  what I see while sketching. I can see the details better and how it could be changed, shaded or highlighted.  What in the world did I do before computers!! I do like that I am better able to see a more exacting picture through the use of the computer.

Join the whole group and see all the other artists at Paint Party Friday.

Blessings,
Janet

  5. That's not so weird, we all do, when you focus on the picture, does not look beyond the details, you need to see at a distance "THE ALL" need perspective, which in his case, the computer gives. Saludos

  7. I love owl and funny enough I also sketched one this week which I'll put on my blog sometime soon. I know exactly what you mean - it's so much easier to see mistakes or things you want to change when you look at your drawing/painting on the computer screen than if you look directly at it - i'm not sure why that it but it is helpful!!

  16. Janet, you are in your "birds period" of art, I see. Wonderful own with such nice feathers. It is strange how the computer image varies from what we have done.

  18. I agree that art looks different on a screen!
You are so methodical doing all the feathers individually, I think that is the best way.
He is a very fine specimen and cleverly drawn. Are you planning to paint him next:)

  21. That's the perfect sketch of an owl and how they sometimes look a bit "weird" turning their heads and closing eyes.
