Busy - Christmas Cloth Kats and Crocheted Ducks

Ok, so I'm a party girl.  I didn't take my camera to the condo party and just found out today they have VIDEO!!!!  Yikes!!!  Ok, so we won't go there.  Did I mention Mimosa's!!??
I did take pictures at a couple of other parties.  My girlfriend just came in for a visit from OK with her new hubby (I will have pics of parties and our luncheon later).  However, more baby ducks have shown up, so thought I would show all the Christmas Ducks and Kats.  Enjoy.

Flamingo in So. FL

You would expect a Flamingo to drop in, now wouldn't you?  She's sitting there without a care in the world.  We won't mention the 20 degree weather we may be having next week.  Blessings, Janet

Hoot landed

Another owl came to visit.  He decided to put in an appearance just for you - notice the muffler.  It's very very cold here (broke another record) - Now wait a minute, we do not need to break records especially with our fantastic farmers and their crops that we need to sustain us through the winter. Global warming is having a freezing time in So. FL.  I think maybe global warming is in fact turning the world upside down.  It warm at the North Pole and Cold in So. FL - go figure.  .  .  Blessings, Janet

3 New Kats in Town

Look what blew into town to celebrate the holidays.  They have their mufflers on because it is very cold and going to become very much colder.  Kats are looking for a new home.  I have no fireplace and no furnace.  They are tiny kitties, 2 1/2 inches.  Perfect ornaments or windowsill kats.

Janet

Thanksgiving - Family Style

Debra and Tom (my oldest daughter and son-in-love) with 5 children held the festivities at their place. It was decorated so festively and the food was delicious.  The company was marvelous.  A very wonderful and loving Thanksgiving.  Blessings, Janet

My 2 beautiful daughters Debra & Tambra

Foxy joined us at the table.  She's a pretty girl (the one on the left).

Here we are in the kitchen - hanging out lifting a bite here and there!

Look who caught the camera bug!!

This little piggy. . . .

I have found a piggy wandering around and decided to keep him.  He is no trouble at all and appears to like it here.  He may like the Christmas atmosphere.  Blessings, Janet

Apron

Thanksgiving is coming up fast as Fall and the apron celebrates both.  The little scarecrow girl is a tribute to the dolls in my life.  The large pocket will hold more. Let's get ready for Thanksgiving.

2 New Christmas Dolls

Santa's Sunshine and Happy Christmas are the 2 new gals wishing you all Happy Holidays. They finally decided which pinafore material they wanted me to use.  Merry was adopted and went to her new home. I have heard that she is making someone very happy.  I have also finished 2 scarves which I will show next time.

Janet

Houston International Quilt/Doll Show

I have returned from the show and it was more fabulous than I could ever imagine.  They thought of everything. The disappointment was that I was unable to obtain tickets to the fashion show luncheon. There were free talks each day all day long wherein we all learned so much (there were paid classes in the education wing also.  Not only were there quilt supplies, patterns and fabric, but doll supplies, patterns and fabric, but knitting/crochet supplies, patterns and needles.  There were buttons, jewelry, (sewing, quilting, embroidery and serger machines), a lot of places gave away bags (huge, to carry all our 'stuff'), and scrapbooking supplies (that doubles as fabric painting, sparkles and foiling.
The first quilt shop on the way we visited was Peggy's Heirlooms of Tomorrow Inc. shop in Ocala, FL and they gave me a rousing welcome.  Why?  Because I bought the Quilt DIVA pattern, Amy Bradley design (see 4th picture from top with Peggy and Quilt Diva on wall behind her).  I intend to put Quilt DIVA on the back of a jacket.  I once saw a lady with the Quilt DIVA on the back of her coat.  Very striking! I purchased the pattern and there was a loud yell in the shop, she came around the counter and gave me a special DIVA pin. I wore it every day.  Back later with more on the trip.  Blessings, Janet

Merry Light

Someone popped up in the sewing room and asked to be dressed.  She is one of the little dolls.  She's having fun in the Christmas centerpiece I forgot to put away last Christmas.  She is having fun over there trying to put little holly in her bag. The Christmas spirit is coming in, now if we can just get the radio to play Christmas music Nov. 1.  Yes, Nov. 1, because the quicker we can get to Dec. 1, the quicker hurricane season is over.  I realize in other parts of the country and world, you may not be trying to rush it so much, but ever since we were without power for weeks on end, we are anxious to get those lights on and hear that music.  Blessings, Janet

H E L P!!

"Oh, No, I should'na jumped!!  M o m!!!  Help. . . .  I'm Stuck!!!"
What are you going to do, hatch em and the next thing you know they are jumping through the empty crochet thread card.
"You are not ready to jump yet, you need to grow a bit."
Aren't owlets fun?  I have a new group of owls that I am following.  They were hatched in a potted plant. This is the 3rd year for them to come around.  They are fun and interesting and the owner has a blog where there are updates and explanations of what is going on.  The place is in Africa.  A very fun and interesting place. There is a uStream site where there is a chat, I prefer to watch this player because of puter crash issues.  Blessings, Janet

New Booties

In the process of making my first Christmas doll Babe, I wondered what to put the legs in to dry the booties.  The cup I was using was too big (aren't coffee cups always large - mine are, they are Starbucks size).  I looked around for something else. . . ahhh, the wine glass.  Perfect.  She doesn't have her striped socks on yet, but as soon as her booties dry. . . . her face is ready for hair, now she needs wire in her fingers and her body put together, she's coming together nicely, it will be the clothing that will be tough. I can make my own, but her's is tough!!!  She's already discussed her hair 'do' with me.  Yikes!  We'll see. Blessings, Janet

Birthday

The Palm Beach Country Quilt Guild had a 25th Anniversary party yesterday.  I have a birthday today. I won several of the prizes that they were given during the celebration.  Two days of celebrating, what fun is that!  My FB friends have wished me a happy birthday too.  I had 21 messages when I woke up this morning. . . and several phone calls.  I am wallowing in this glow of friends and family. Thank you everyone. Many Blessings, Janet

Early Birthday Present

My Girlfriend, Patti, made an owl pincushion.  She knows I watch the Owl Box faithfully, which will come to an end Oct. 20 (before my birthday).  She made (which is so very special) this sweet pincushion for me.  She fits quite nicely on the table. This is a celebration.  Thank you my good friend.

Carrie the youngest was left alone in the owl box Thursday early a.m. and she was anxious by Thursday afternoon late to find out where her sister, Ashley, was. . . so she ventured out during daylight. Something barn owls rarely do (especially when we know there is a hawk in the area).  See picture below.  (albeit: She did hurry back inside.)

Illinois back from the Reunion

I saw Daddy, some really great people, my pups, and the Class Reunion was fantastic.  We all grew up together.  I do not have the big picture yet or the elementary school picture, but those will be coming in the mail.  Daddy is 94 and doing great.  He has a great sense of humor and looked forward to seeing me every day I was in IL.  It turned cold the last day, so I am glad I got in earlier and left Monday.   My girlfriend from elementary school, Janet is in the picture with me.  I did get my hair trimmed but not cut, so the curls are mine. Blessings, Janet

3 More New Witchlettes

The Cob Web Orphanage has 3 more little witchlettes.  They will have pumpkins and 2 of them have holes in their socks, now where in the world are their shoes.  . . go figure.  They don't have hats either, crochet must not be their strong point, but their pumpkins are cute.  Now where did the other 2 pumpkins go?? OK, we are off to a really good start here. Blessings, Janet

Queen Grimhilde

Remember Sleeping Beauty and the witch/queen that gave her the poison apple?  That was the villain I made for the cloth doll villain challenge.  I couldn't show you because there was voting.  I didn't win, but every fall I make sure I participate in a challenge.  So far, the challenges have been through the Cloth Doll Artistry group.  The ME doll this summer was my local doll group.  Here she is.  Blessings, Janet

Pumpkins for all the Cob Web Orphans

They need something to bolster their confidence that they are loved and will be adopted soon.  So, I am giving them their own pumpkin treat.  She looks happy.  I will have to get busy so that each one has a pumpkin.  There will soon be 3 more for a total of 9 orphans. Blessings, Janet

September 2, 2010 Post

Rice Freeman-Zachary says it better than I can in her post of today.  I try to live this, however, it is so difficult.  Society has a way of interjecting itself between me and what I really want.  Remember the Cottage by the water and the puppy?  I'm still looking for it. .  .  and to that end I am clearing out my house to be ready for it.  I want that reality for ME!  Remember the ME wall hanging with the cottage, the puppy, the water and the places I want to travel behind the ME doll?  This lady and her blog is an inspiration and I wanted to share that with you.  Blessings, Janet

Witchlette Orphanage

What have I been doing?  I realize I've been silent.  One item I cannot show is for the Villain Challenge at Cloth Doll Artistry (see badge at right). The other is the 6 little Witchlettes for the Cob Web Orphanage. The are all dressed in matching jumpers to identify their witchlette status.  They have hats and well, I think they lost some of their things, I'll have to go find them. Their hats are all different, they had to crochet them and some of them don't hold the hook too well. The teens are managing them, but the Director overseas all of them.  They are on Etsy and you can catch a glimpse on the right below.

Janet

Betty Boop's Birthday

I found an article in the Herald newspaper offering free coffee to celebrate Betty Boop's Birthday. She was born in 1933 (77).

This week, Maine Gold and the Sugar House Cafe is celebrating the birthday of Betty Boop by giving free coffee to any customer who says, "Happy birthday Betty!" (Rockland, ME)

Betty Boop pictures are copyrighted. . . therefore, I have not included them. But I have included my FABRIC!

Let's all celebrate.

Daughter Birthday

August 14 is my daughters birthday. We had a conference call where we all sang happy birthday to her last night.  JODY Royal (Molly the Owl's last baby was hatched on Aug. 14).  An exciting day all the way around.
When I was her age, I have a picture to commemorate that day for me too.  Happy times at Key West for me.
Blessings, Janet

Reunion

There will be a High School reunion this October 1 in my hometown.  It sounds like fun.  There are 70 out of over 200 in my graduating class that will be attending.  Of course there have been quite a number of losses. I am anxious to see what everyone has been doing. Nothing I thought would happen did, it's all an illusion.  However, what did happen was amazing.  I look forward, but can't help looking backward at times like these.
Blessings,
Janet
